LUDHIANA : The Department of Human Development and Family Studies, College of Community Science, Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), organized a significant program to observe the ‘International Day for Elimination of Violence against Women’ on November 25. The event was designed to raise awareness about the urgent need to end violence against women and promote a culture of equality, safety and respect. The program included two main activities – poster making and slogan writing competition; this provided students with a platform to creatively express their thoughts and ideas on this critical issue.
Dr Kiran Bains, Dean, College of Community Science; Dr Seema Sharma, Head, Department of Human Development and Family Studies (HDFS); Dr Tejpreet Kang, Professor, HDFS and Dr Sharanbir Bal, Head, Department of RMCS, graced the occasion with their presence. Their valuable insights, encouragement, and feedback added depth and inspiration to the program, motivating the participants to think critically about the issue and its implications.
Dr Bains appreciated the efforts of the department and said that this kind of celebration not only served as a platform for creative expression but also as an opportunity for students to engage with a pressing global issue and reflect on their role in building a safer and more equitable world.
Dr Sharma praised the students for their creativity, originality and dedication to address such an important social concern.
