Fans upbeat even as Gukesh goes down in first game to Liren

MUMBAI : Chess fans and enthusiasts gathered at the Chess.com, ChessBase India, Nodwin Gaming and Samay Raina hosted Live broadcast of the world chess championship match between reigning champion Ding Liren of China and India’s 18-year-old challenger Gukesh Domaraju, remained upbeat even as the first game on Monday did not go as per the Indian’s expectations. Liren pulled-off a counter-attacking win with black pieces employing the French defense.

A star commentary team comprising International Masters Tania Sachdev and Sagar Shah as well as the popular stand-up comedian Samay, kept the live audience engrossed and entertained with critical analysis of each move of game one.

The ticketed event at the venue Habitat in the city, is the only one of its kind in the country combining the live FIDE broadcast of each game with a live audience, commentary, chess games, analysis and special guest appearances.
